Dishes made of feta cheese

Ktipiti

One of the traditional Greek side dishes is feta cheese paste. The ktipiti dip consists of feta cheese, lemon juice, garlic and oregano. The ingredients are mixed together and served with bread or as an addition to meat. It cannot be denied that Greek cuisine is famous for feta.

  • feta cheese – 250 g
  • natural yogurt -100g
  • dried oregano – 0.5 teaspoon
  • salt
  • pepper
  1. Drain the feta, crumble into small pieces and mix with yoghurt until smooth.
  2. Season with oregano, pepper and a pinch of salt.
  3. Serve with pita bread.

Tiropita

It is a traditional Greek pastry made of filo pastry and a cheese and egg mixture. Most often served in the form of a triangle or as a rolled-up cake that is portioned. Phyllo dough is very thin, it is used for many pastries (e.g. tiropita, kreatopita or baklava).

  1. Grease a casserole dish with a little olive oil. Lightly stretch half of the phyllo pie and put it into an ovenproof dish.
  2. We shred the feta. We mix with the disguised ones eggs. Dice the yellow cheese, mix it with the cheese-egg mass. Pour in the milk and sprinkle the parsley. Season with pepper. We mix.
  3. Spread the stuffing evenly on the cake. Cover with the rest of the phyllo pie. We pour the remaining olive oil. Bake for about 45 minutes in an oven preheated to 170 ° C.

Grilled eggplant with feta cheese

One of the more popular vegetables in Greece is aubergine. The dish is extremely simple and you can easily prepare yourself at home. Wrap the cheese mass in eggplant and grill or bake it. It’s filling, light and delicious dish, perfect for hot days.

  • 1 large eggplant (about 0.5 kg)
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1/4 cup of shredded feta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped
  • fresh mint
  • fresh lemon juice
  • lemon cut into quarters
  1. Cut the eggplant into 1-1.5 cm slices. Brush each slice with olive oil.
  2. Place the eggplant slices on the hot grill and bake on each side for 4-6 minutes or until they are tender. When they are ready, transfer them to a plate.
  3. Sprinkle the eggplant slices with feta cheese, mint and lemon juice. Decorate the plate with lemon quarters .
  4. You can also make grilled eggplant rolls. To do this, mix the shredded feta cheese with the mint, put it on the aubergine slice while it is still warm and wrap it. If you like spicy cheese, you can add chilli flakes to your cheese.
